Re: VR6 time chain replacement interval? (Massboykie)
VRs actually have actually timing chains, and also 2 of them i believe.service intervals top top them space every ~100k miles.while you"re getting them done, i"d suggest swapping out a bunch of your gaskets and maybe your thermostat housing, clutch etc. Anything else that might need help. Its recommended to have strong skills to be taking apart the top finish like you have to do to swap in new chains..unless you"re a mechanic i"d introduce leaving it come the pros.

chains are told through VW to be great for the life the the car. The tensioners and also guides room where the negative news starts. Most common problems are the travel guide breaking, leading to a rattle(like marbles in a can) coming from the engine, usually roughly 1200rpms or so. If friend let the noise continue and also the chain skips a tooth or snaps your lookin at everywhere from bending valves to a cracked or warped head. 100k is a great time to change it all out. Mine cars at 60k, kinda rattling, and also im changing all mine out in around 3 weeks

Though i will be replacing those, with an assortment of other expensive items quickly anyway. Among the major keys to the life the the guides and tensioners is constant oil changes.

when us did mine in ~ 95K there was a damaged rail leading to abnormal rattling.if that sounds choose a bunch the marbles in a coffee can, then consider doing them.
Re: VR6 timing chain replacement interval? (Massboykie)
you can readjust one rail the the chains...1/2 that the problem however the chain tensioner is the main difficulty if you got a steel one..they eliminate the infection which is essential to change the rail tensioner...it"ll price you around 1k for a shop to carry out the job because you obtained to remove the trannyIm going to install my 262 cams soon so I will take a look in ~ the conditions in there and go from there... I gained 130k on my Mulberry and I hear noises in there
